RAT BEACH BIKE TOUR IS A CHARITY EVENT PUT ON BY THE SOUTH BAY SUNRISE ROTARY CLUB AND THE EL SEGUNDO ROTARY CLUB. ALL OF YOUR MONEY GOES DIRECTLY TO SUPPORT THE FOLLOWING CHARITIES AND NO ONE MAKES ANY MONEY FROM YOUR REGISTRATION EXCEPT THE PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY IN NEED. ALL THE WORKERS ARE VOLUNTEERS AND ARE DOING THEIR PART TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY.

The Wounded Heroes of America
The mission of Wounded Heroes of America is to recognize and support our Combat Wounded Warriors primarily here in Southern California. We assist them in many different ways, our Plan of Action is fairly simple: One-on-one support and counseling.
We address isolation and depressions. We have found that the best medicine is getting them together in a social environment among other wounded vets from the same conflicts (Iraq and Afghanistan).
If they have other needs or require additional support that we are not able to supply, we do our best to direct them to those that can.
Most of our beneficiaries are in their mid to late 20 and early 30's and suffer from 50% or higher disability rating as established by the Veterans Administration. Many of these soldiers have been diagnosed with (TBI) Traumatic Brain Injury or (PTSD) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
It’s been our experience that the first 18 months is the time they began to see some daylight and get back on their feet.
The Arc South Bay's mission is to attract and serve clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities by:
Promoting the general welfare of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities which will enhance their opportunities for growth and independence.
Providing support to the families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Reducing the incidence and limiting the consequence of intellectual and developmental disabilities through education and advocacy and through supporting research with the help of families, friends and the community.
Facilitating equal access to society for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
South Bay Sunrise Rotary
also helps many other charities and youth activities throughout the South Bay
and internationally that are in financial need. Some of these are the ARC House
in Torrance, Harbor Regional Center, The Torrance High School Interact Club,
Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly, Clean Water in Thailand, Clean Water in Fiji,
Public Schools and students in Guaymas, Mexico.
El Segundo Rotary is new to the Rat Beach Bike Tour in 2017. We have joined forces because of the size and perimeters of the Event. With the new SeaSide Lagoon location and the Fiesta/Bike Expo the Event has gone from a Great Bike Ride to a FABULOUS EVENT and that just takes "more folks" to plan and organize. South Bay Sunrise Rotary and El Segundo Rotary have often partnered on other CHARITY EVENTS so this seemed like a very comfortable fit.
El Segundo Rotary is very similar to South Bay Sunrise in that it work with the community to help those less fortunate. Rotary's motto is "Service above Self" and El Segundo Rotary a very high profile and energetic group always looking to help those in need.
